Please
take a few moments to read the following explanation of our adoption policies
and the steps that make up the process. You may be surprised to find that
adopting an animal is a more involved process that you expected, or that
it means you can't have immediate access to an animal you are interested
in. Therefore, it is important to understand two things:1) the process
is the same for everyone, and 2) it's not our intent to frustrate you.
Rather, everything we do is for the best interests of the animals in our
care, and is aimed at giving them the best possible chance of finding
a permanent home.
HERE ARE THE STEPS YOU'LL GO THROUGH IN THE ADOPTION PROCESS:
*You will fill out a 2 page adoption form for the dog or cat you are seeking
to adopt. Within a couple of days, or sooner, depending upon the availability
of our adoption manager, a consultation with the adoption manager takes
place. If you are approved, then you may take the animal home under our
Foster Care Program. The Foster Care can last up to 1 week, but not to
exceed 2 weeks. If the Humane Society of the Desert and the prospective
adopter are in agreement, the formal adoption process will take place.
*The next step is you will be asked to sign an adoption contract and
pay an adoption fee. This adoption fee may vary on purebred animals.
Our adoption fee for Kittens/Cats is $100.00. This includes spay or neuter,
4 in 1 vaccination and a Leukemia vaccination.
Our adoption fee for Puppies/Dogs is $150.00. This includes spay or neuter,
6 in 1 vaccination, Bordetella and Rabies.
Adoption fees may vary due to additional costs incurred by extensive
medical care and or professional training. Adoption fees for purebred
cats and dogs are $250.00.
We look forward to assisting you in finding your forever companion with
us.
Download and fill out the appropriate form and fax it to us at 760-329-7944
